UZ Brussel tests new stretchers: focus on user-friendliness and safety

On Friday, 10 January, an important step was taken in the procurement process for new stretchers at the UZ Brussel emergency department. During a preselection event, various models were evaluated for user-friendliness and safety. The selected models will undergo extensive practical testing in the coming weeks to ensure the best choice for daily operations.

This testing process is part of a broader procurement initiative for the renewal of equipment, carried out in close collaboration with the purchasing department and the biotechnology department at UZ Brussel. What sets this approach apart is its focus on user experience. Care providers who use the stretchers daily play a crucial role in the process. Their needs, preferences, and experiences form the foundation of every procurement decision.

‘When acquiring new equipment and devices, we always start from the needs of our staff. It is essential that they can rely on user-friendly and safe solutions that support them in their work,’ said Gert Verleyen, head nurse of the emergency department.

In the coming weeks, it will become clear which model is best suited to the daily challenges of the department. This practice-oriented approach underscores UZ Brussel's commitment to investing in equipment that not only meets the highest technical standards but is also fully tailored to the realities of care delivery.
